Dear son has always wanted a Jack Russell Terrier. For almost as long as I can remember. I have put him off and told him no for a long time now. I had met my fair share of Jack Russell Terriers and was not a fan. From the horse trainer's Jack who was nasty, snarly, and would pee on everything in sight, including my leg, to the Farrier's Jack Russell who stood in his truck barking at me (at my barn) for two hours, and then tried to bite me when he was finally let out. No thanks.
Until last week. I became aware of a wonderful woman who had four Jacks that she was looking for good homes for. Dear son is now an responsible adult. I brought it up to him, showed him a picture. He was thrilled that I would finally let him get "his" dog.
Arrangements were made, and we set out on a road trip. 322 miles each way. 322 miles equals six hours. One way. It was a great trip actually. Beautiful scenery, and quality alone time to have good conversations with the dear son.

This is the first picture of the two of them together. Dear son is thrilled beyond belief. The Little Man sleeps with dear son at night, they go for walks together, to the lake, visiting friends, they are inseperable.
I have to say that I am quite smitten with the Little Man. He is very well mannered, sweet, adorable, and quite the little character. He has wormed his way into the heart of every person (and dog) in the house. He knows the right people to kiss up to. (see below picture of him snuggled up on the couch with my dad).

He is a wonderful addition to our family, and I already can't imagine my house without him. Want a little extra dose of cuteness? Here's his puppy picture.
